The 2e round boy and with a handful is the 3e round out already. I have now removed most of the hens from the racers and put them on a rest mixture. Every year I also breed youngsters from most racing pigeons. Most of them I give away on vouchers or I help enthusiasts with them, I keep a 6-8 myself. For example, there are beautiful youngsters from “Patricks Choice”. She is paired against my best one day long distance cock, last year I also got beautiful youngsters from this couple. Both youngsters are still in the racing loft. In this way I will hopefully soon find out what the breeding value of these pigeons is. I also have youngsters from the pigeons purchased in 2021 from J van der Made, Elkhuizen and Onderwater that I keep myself. (Family tree 100% Underwater, pedigree Made/elkhuizen)
Last week I visited Onderwater for a while, brought the daughter of Olympic Tripple One there from which he can breed something. Hopefully something beautiful will come our way in the summer 😉 He has a beautiful loft with pigeons there, although here too it turned out that 1 of his best breeding hens was not great in hand. That was a reassurance for me, because sometimes I am a little too busy with the construction of the pigeons haha.
This coming weekend most of the youngsters from the racing pigeons will leave, at the beginning of March a 10-14 from the breeding pigeons will go to a topper in the south, if they pass the inspection. Then at the end of March at the beginning of April (too many) vouchers will still be redeemed and the focus can be on the racing season. I'm going to do that differently next year anyway, I've been way too generous with gift vouchers. But every year you get wiser. What has also made me wiser is feeding the pigeons during the breeding season. I always fed way too much, resulting in a lot of food on the floor. This year I feed Aidi for the first time and I like it so far. Especially with the youngsters of the racing pigeons, the manure was beautiful and never thin for a moment. If I also get a little control over the feeding during the racing season, it might turn out to be something.
Next week also make the choice which pigeons will be ringed for the Dutch Golden Classic. The first couple I know by now, the 2e Do I have to lay another egg 😊
Genot om te lezen succes😉
