The 2nd round….

While coming up with the title of this blog, some youth sentiment came to the surface. Namely the “Big Mister Kaktus show” in which Mrs. Stemband announced the “next round” in her characteristic way. Hence this somewhat striking image 🙂

The youngsters from the first round have now finished and have had a paramixo-rota vaccination. That happens with the boy of the 2e round and the “specials” that will be added afterwards, of course. As soon as they are added, they will receive an oral para-colireduce treatment 3 more times. I'm doing this now for the 3e years and I really liked it. Yes it is a lot of work, but I like that I have them all in my hands. In addition, coli has hardly occurred in recent years.

In addition, the eggs are starting to hatch at the kites, of course some unnecessary damage in the last few days, but I can't worry about it. Except for a few youngsters, all youngsters leave the racing pigeons, partly on receipts, partly they are “just” given away. Recently I was asked why I give away so many youngsters. Very simple for me, the faster I know something about the breeding value of parents and grandparents. Actually, I am also just a mass basketer in this way, but nobody realizes that 😊 In addition, I enjoy the fact that other fanciers perform well with my pigeons.

Despite the fact that it is a busy period, I always enjoy growing. This is how you see young lying where you think "yes they are". Of course I'm usually wrong, but the anticipation is no less. After a difficult coupling, there are beautiful youngsters from “couple 12”, click here for the lineage. The 2e round of this couple has been submitted and I expect them to start laying again at the end of this week. I also want to discuss this round, because this couple now lives in the hens' loft and has to leave it in about 3 weeks.

We sleep at night

As I wrote before, in the summer of `21 I bought summer youngsters in a number of good one day long distance lofts. One of them was Th.Onderwater from Lisse. Of the 5 youngsters purchased there, 3 are now in the racing loft. In all those pedigrees is “den Theo”, 1e pigeon champion one day long distance the Allerbeste 2018, this pigeon is now in the lofts of Van Wanrooij and listens to the name "Olympic Tripple One". I am particularly charmed by the pigeons and am therefore very curious what they will show this year. The information I received from Onderwater shows that these lines have been 1e prizes and ace pigeons. So when I came across a child of the Olympic triple One at the auction of the Golden Algarve at the end of last year, I couldn't pass it up. Even then it became clear once again what commerce does with the price paid for a pigeon, because I managed to buy this pigeon for a very acceptable price. I know, guarantee until the door of the breeding loft, but this pigeon meets a very important criteria, namely first prize winners in major competitions and (national) ace pigeons in several generations (pedigree Dano). And that's how we keep busy 😊
