(7-09) For years I have maintained a (mainly) pigeon dialogue with Michel Beekman, after we got to know each other via FB. More of a digilogue actually, because we have never met in person, as Michel has been living and working in Malaysia for years. Quite special actually when I realize that we sometimes have contact with each other several times a week. Usually by messenger or app, if it gets more complicated by email and if that got out of hand, we visited each other via Teams or a similar medium. We have often discussed the idea of setting up a kind of dialogue on various topics and publishing it on FB. Various topics and ideas have been discussed in recent years.
Very recently I sent him an email with the proposal to put our intention into action. The idea is that we discuss topics together, but everyone can read along As long as there is interesting material we will continue, it is up to you to take the trouble to read it or not. Today part 1.

Hi Michael,
First of all, in response to your comment on my post âthat I can be quite happyâ.. Of course I am currently happy with how the youngsters are coming home. I am especially amazed at how well they continue to train, I expect that will decrease once they hatch. This year I waited a long time with pans and tobacco sticks, I will only do that this week.
Now that the season is coming to an end, as an ex-driver I am looking forward to all the proposals that will come this winter. Because there was a lot wrong again in our department and at the NPO when I read this left and right. But every year it is "deafeningly quiet" after the season. As a driver (and now as an enthusiast) I have always been highly surprised by this. Inquiries then revealed that ânothing is being done with the proposals after allâ. Just as I often read that âthere is no voting at all according to the wishes of the enthusiastâ. Incidentally, as a director I couldn't do anything with that voting structure within the pigeon sport. I've said before that it's nonsense for program players to interfere in marathon affairs and vice versa. Actually, as a pigeon sport director you are no more than a conduit. And if you do that you are a weak ass without an opinion, but when a clear opinion is proclaimed, you act on it, you are a dictator. Incidentally, it is often the personal opinion of that director and not an opinion in the interest of the pigeon sport in its breadth, so I quite understand the frustration of the enthusiast in some cases. A good example, the national flying program. The previous NPO board also wanted a program that was fixed for a number of years. As a driver, I understand that. We had about 3 meetings every year just about the flying program⊠ridiculous. Now it's settled and we complain bitterly because it's a bad program... But in the end the department directors got along to vote "FOR" on the Members' Council, right?
The new NPO board is also under fire again, although this is mainly with a number of prominent people. âHigh-quality drivers, but little affinity with the pigeon sportâ. The word transparency often comes up, but no matter how good it sounds, you can't be transparent about everything. Transparency sometimes raises more questions than answers. And within the pigeon sport, asking the right questions (and in the right tone or with the right intention) is not always easy in practice.
So you name it, democracy, technocracy or dictatorship⊠What do we benefit most from in the pigeon sport?
Greetings,
Harry
